100wc

One dark misty night as I lay in bed staring out the window I heard a creaking noise. I looked towards my bedroom door and saw the handle turning. And then the noise stopped. There was a silence in my room just as I thought it was only mum coming to make sure I was asleep. She didn't hear me so she thought I was asleep…but the door opened no one was there then I heard the soft sound of feet padding across the carpet I crouched under my covers the sound got louder as it came nearer and nearer.

100WC

To the survivors,'
You may feel like its the end of the world because your loved ones died but they will still be in your heart. Keep your feet on the ground and hold your head high to help you move on in life.
I hope you get the things you need to survive as fast as possible.
At the moment (for you) everything may feel impossible but it isn't.
You can still survive if you try it,it can be possible.
Everybody is thinking about you at the moment and we hope that you can live happily again soon.

100WC-Remembering

My great great grandfather gave me the power of a bullet the strength of a cannon and made me as wild as a poppy. Since the day I was born my skin was as brown as a warrior and my hair was as crazy as a gooseberry bush. I will always remember my great great grandfather the one who made me proud. He didn’t die in war he died by falling out of a hospital window. I never got to meet my great great grandfather of course because I was not even born but I can still be very proud.

Sweet Volcano

Have you ever seen a fizzy drink volcano? Well I have and I'm going to tell you how it erupts when you put mentos in.

In a fizzy drink there is CO2 (carbon dioxide). That's how bubbles are formed when CO2 gets covered by H2O (water). So when you put mentos in the fizzy it brakes the H2O and the CO2 escapes and multiplies before it flows over the sides.

So now you know what happens when you mentos in a fizzy drink try it for yourself.

Rainbow magic

Rainbow Magic

Have you ever wondered what happens when you put milk, dish washing liquid and food colouring in one bowl? Well I can tell you what happens.

It mixes. But how does it mix by itself? you may ask. In milk there is minerals vitamins and fat. Fat loves to chase dish washing liquid so it mixes the food colouring and you see it bubble and mix like a rainbow. If you use water instead of milk it will not mix because water only has minerals and vitamins. Also half of the dish washing liquid is scared of water. So the food colouring just shoots off to the sides.

Now you know what happens when you have milk, dish washing liquid and food colouring in one bowl try it for yourself and see the magic begin.

Jump Jam

On the day of the jump jam competition I felt nervous at the same time I could not help being excited. When we got to Bethlehem collage we had to get a Vardon jacket to put on we were allowed to watch a little bit but then we had to get into our costumes. Before we performed we had a group photo and then a individual photo after that we went to the green room I felt sick. We played a game called 'who can be the quietest the longest'. I won it! After quite a long time we got picked up by the people who work backstage and taken backstage. Mrs Head had left us and gone to watch in the audience it was fun we came 3rd equal when it was all over I was sad.

Athletics running

I learnt that when Mrs Head said 'on your marks' we had to step up to the mark and when she said 'get set' we had to get ready and she would clap and off we would go.
My goal was to sprint on my tip toes and then onto my heels.
I achieved this goal by practicing slowly and then getting faster and faster.

Athletics-throwing

My goal was to throw further every day we did throwing I achieved it by practising at home. I remembered to not have my feet too far apart and bend my back leg so I could push forward and throw further.

App Review for Pic Collage

Here is my app review for Pic Collage.

App Review For Pic Collage.
Pic Collage is an app where you reflect on your learning by using pictures.
I have used Pic Collage to show my learning at different events like when the Hot Air Balloon came to our school.
Pic Collage helps me with my learning because it is an app to share our learning with other people.
I think Pic Collage should stay on the i- pads or i-pods because it is a fantastic way to share our learning quickly.
Pic Collage is a collaborative app because you work with other people to make the Pic Collage.
Next time I use Pic Collage I am going to try and use pictures that actually show the order of what we did the event in. I could use it to summarise the story I have read at reading time or I could use it in writing for planning my beginning, middle and end.

What have you used Pic Collage for?

100WC-And then I saw a bright light

I lay there unconscious from the knock that had occurred a few minutes ago. After a few more minutes I had recovered so I struggled to my feet. I felt myself trembling. Opening my mouth I called “help!” Nobody came so I tried again. I waited and then I saw a bright light from a lantern. I was panic stricken would this person save me or was it my enemy who had given me that blow at first. I pursed my lips as I saw my enemy coming near. Without thinking I ran at him and thumped him as hard as I could.

Character Description

Ice princess icicle.
Her voice sounds like it is croaky because she has shouted to much. Her ice castle is a cold dark gloomy place if you go near you will feel cold and lonely just like her. Sitting on a throne wearing a snowy white dress in her hair like a bird's nest sits a beautiful sparkly icicle crown. She never stops turning little children into stone. We hear a crash as the statues fall. Her crystal clear dress has creases that look like droopy cobwebs crawling down her dress.

100WC-Suddenly I heard a crack

As I opened the gate the moonlight shone on my bare feet. The brown autumn tan glittered like the sea at night. I made my way to the front porch hardly making a sound. Twisting the door knob I entered the house. It seemed abandoned. Quickly and quietly I pulled the door shut behind me. As I continued my search I journeyed past different rooms, as I crossed one room, out of the corner of my eye, I spied a row of shiny treasure chests. I tip toed into the room and suddenly I heard a crack I jumped behind a chest. I was the witches prisoner.

100WC-As the train entered the tunnel

Once upon a time in faraway land there was a bridge no-one was allowed to cross like the troll and the three goats. No one even dared put a foot on it otherwise BANG... a gun would be fired headshot. Now as the years went past a plan was decided by the men that lived there. One day their plan was successful.  They started shovelling a large tunnel in the ground. As the train entered the tunnel for the workers to get on with finishing the tunnel, a lava flow came trickling through and everyone died. The men were never forgotten for their bravery and exhausting work.

Evidence of achieving my writing goals

My writing goals are to use a range of language features in my writing such as personification, and alliteration etc.
This shows that I used personification to describe Hotumauea shivering.

To use apostrophes accurately.

This shows that I know where apostrophes go. Because a letter is missing or to show that someone owns it.

My final goal is to edit my own writing looking for ways to improve it further.

100WC changes to our golf tournament story

Thanks to the teachers who have commented. We were able to improve our writing using your comments. Check out our new improved version.

It was the day of the golf tournament. I shot through the door as fast as lightning. Mum asked why I was in such a hurry. I looked back but didn’t say a thing. I reached the golf factory and dashed through the design room.

That’s when it all happened...

I twisted the door handle to the production roomCreeeaak! My ears were hit by a horrible sizzling noise. Next thing I heard … was the ping pong of all the golf balls flying across the room! One hit a shiny red button. But instead of stopping, the chaos still went on.

Can you please leave a comment about what you liked about our changes. Our changes are in red.

My 100WC shows that I am editing my work using the feedback I get from my readers.

These pictures show that I have extended my vocabulary knowledge but I have to keep on working on this all the time to learn new words.

100WC-Rubbish bins

 Week #37

One dark gloomy night as thunder rolled, lighting crashed, and possums roamed the streets suddenly... out of the shadows came a loud booming noise. Then out stepped a shiny green monster eating all the rubbish in its way. The village was peaceful in the morning for all the monsters had frozen. Their green eyes shone at the thought of being able to trick some villagers again. They spit out their banana peels then when the villagers try and feed the bins they slip and fall down on their backs. The monsters eyes were grinning at all the excitement of tomorrow’s town.

100WC- the birds swooped down

This weeks prompt is...the birds swooped down and...

Zzzzzzzzzzzip I hopped out of my tent. The sun shone down on the jungle as bright as a river of lava. I went to find some sticks for my fire. I put my meat on top and turned to get my seasoning. But when I looked away the birds swooped down and stole my meat I grabbed my net and went after them. I grabbed a branch, snapped it and found a few twigs to make a bow and arrow. I fired at the birds. I hit the bird with the meat but my meat was no longer good to eat.

Arbor Day

It was fun going back to see how big my plants were from last year. Also most people enjoyed getting muddy.

100WC...as the sun came out...

This week’s prompt is ...as the sun came out...

I piled lots of heather together to keep me warm. I was lost on the moors. No one around me, just the sweet bird’s singing in the breeze. The moon came up just as I fell asleep.

Then, as the sun came out in the morning I heard something “crackle crackle!” I sat up in shock! Shivering from head to toe.

Where was my family?

Was I ever going to see them again?

I went to the little spring with a bucket to pour over the fire, that had been kept there to keep me warm.

Was I lost forever?

Who Am I Poem?

                                                        The long wooden life

I  stand  whimpering
Watching  the  kids  having fun,
I  stand  all  night  long
Till  morning  I  watch  the  sun,

I  jumped  the  Waikato  River
Away  from  my  enemies,
When  it’s  winter  I  shiver
All  down  my  wooden  body,

I  am  a  legend
For  many  many  people,
I  will  mend
The  children’s  memories  with  love,
Who  am  I?

-By Gina

Please leave me a comment about who this is.

WOW Visit

What I enjoyed most was making a flower from the radiator material.
One thing I learnt was that you can make a dress using an animal as inspiration.
The visit will help me make my own costume because if somebody  can make a costume I know I can make one too.
